Dame Elizabeth Taylor has confirmed her recent heart surgery went "perfectly", making the announcement via her Twitter page.
The National Velvet star had revealed she was to undergo the procedure on the micro-blogging site earlier this week and has now updated her thousands of followers on the state of her health.
"Dear Friends, My heart procedure went off perfectly," she wrote.
"It's like having a brand new ticker. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes. I know they all helped. Love you, Elizabeth."
Earlier this week the Oscar-winning actress, made an honorary Dame by the Queen in 2000, had explained the heart surgery was to repair "my leaky valve using a clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better".
The 77-year-old made the admission on Twitter as she wanted her fans to know "before it gets in the papers".
The Cleopatra actress has suffered from a number of health problems in recent years and is confined to a wheelchair due to her osteoporosis.
A mother-of-four, she has broken her back five times, had a benign brain tumour removed and suffers from congestive heart failure.
However, she updated her Twitter profile on Wednesday to criticise media outlets for reporting that she suffers from diabetes.
"Dear Friends, I was completely honest with you about my hospitalization," she wrote. "Now the press, bless their little hearts, had to add something by saying that I had diabetes, which is a total lie.
"But I guess they can't help themselves. Talk to later as promised. Love, Elizabeth."
She made a rare public appearance last month at the funeral of her long-time friend Michael Jackson.
