Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law will replace late actor Heath Ledger in un-shot scenes for his final film, it has been announced.
The producers of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a fantasy movie due for release next year, confirmed reports that the three leading Hollywood stars would step in for Ledger, who died earlier this year.
Australian-born Ledger was found dead at his New York apartment on January 22nd after an accidental drug overdose.
The 28-year-old had only partially completed filming for the Terry Gilliam directed film.
A statement from the movie's production company said CGI techniques would not be used to augment Ledger's scenes.
"Since the format of the story allows for the preservation of his entire performance, at no point will Heath's work be modified or altered through the use of digital technology," the message said.
"Each of the parts played by Johnny, Colin and Jude is representative of the many aspects of the character that Heath was playing."
Gilliam said he was grateful to the three actors for helping complete Ledger's last film.
"I am delighted that Heath's brilliant performance can be shared with the world," the former Monty Python actor said.
"We are looking forward to finishing the movie and, through the film, with a modicum of humility, being able to touch people's hearts and souls as Heath was able to do."
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus sees Ledger's character accessing three separate dimensions through a paranormal mirror in a bid to rescue the daughter of a travelling showman who sold his child to the devil in exchange for everlasting life.
