Just when you thought Tom Cruise couldn't get much wackier, out pops this latest stomach-churning revelation that he intends to eat his new baby's placenta.
The 43-year-old American actor, who is currently helping promote his new film Mission Impossible III, revealed his shocking intention during an interview with GQ magazine.
His fiancee Katie Holmes, 27, is due to give birth any day now but Cruise, a devout Scientologist, is clearly looking forward to a good feeding more than the actual arrival of a little 'un.
"I'm going to eat the placenta. I thought that would be good," he told the magazine.
"Very nutritious. I'm going to eat the cord and the placenta right there."
With a nice bottle of Chianti, no doubt.
In line with Cruise's religious beliefs, Holmes, star of Batman Begins, is also expected to give birth in total silence, not that the size of the baby, if in keeping with its diminutive dad, should prove too painful.
Commenting on the bizarre silence request, Cruise explained: "It's really about respecting the woman. It's not about her not screaming."
