Tom Cruise's fiancee Katie Holmes has finally given birth today, to a baby girl named Suri.
A statement from the American filmstars' spokesman Arnold Robinson confirmed the news and revealed that "both mother and daughter are doing well".
Suri, a Hebrew name meaning princess, is said to have weighed in at seven pounds, seven ounces and measured 20 inches long.
The baby is the first for Batman Begins star Holmes, 27, while Mission Impossible's Cruise, 43, already has an adopted daughter, Isabella, and a son, Connor, from his second marriage to Aussie actress Nicole Kidman.
Details of the birth have not been disclosed to the awaiting media pack outside the couple's Beverley Hills home but it is reported the birth was conducted in accordance with the beliefs of the Church of Scientology, to which both stars align.
Thankfully, rumours that Cruise was planning on eating the placenta from the birth have been played down.
