Daniel Craig's licence to thrill has been extended by the Bond producers.
Although doubts were raised that Craig did not have what it takes to play the iconic hero, the actor has been signed up for a second film after his impressive performance in the forthcoming Casino Royale.
"As we wrap production on Casino Royale, we couldn't be more excited about the direction the franchise is heading with Daniel Craig," producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said on behalf of Sony Pictures.
"Daniel has taken the origins of Ian Fleming's James Bond, portraying, with emotional complexity, a darker and edgier 007."
Craig's Bond girl Caterina Murino has also raved about the ruthless edge the British actor brings to the role of Bond.
"Daniel is giving to this James Bond something else we never saw before," the Italian actress said.
"When he's going to kill someone, he looks like a real killer, when he kisses me, when he makes love, he's so sexy. You never saw a James Bond like this."
