Burton's Alice in Wonderland tops UK charts

Tim Burton's new version of Alice in Wonderland has debuted at the top of the UK box office charts, breaking the record opening for a 3D film.
The Disney film took £8.3 million in its first weekend on release to top the charts and surpass the £6.7 million opening haul of Oscar winner Avatar.
Alice in Wonderland's total haul was an impressive £10.55 million with Avatar a distant second in the UK and Ireland top ten with £908,049.
The only new entries in the UK and Irish charts came outside the top ten, with thriller Legion debuting at number 11.
Oscar-winning drama Crazy Heart entered at number 12 after its full UK release while erotic thriller Chloe debuted at 15.
