Jesse James, the husband of Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock, has apologised to his wife and family after allegations that he had an affair.
Allegations of an affair between reality star James and tattoo model Michelle McGee surface earlier this week after the latter gave a magazine interview.
McGee claimed to have had an 11-month relationship with James during the time Bullock was filming The Blind Side, the film for which she won her best actress Oscar.
In a statement James said: "I am truly very sorry for the grief I have caused them. There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me.
"This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension and I am extremely saddened to have brought this on them. I hope one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me."
He did though say that "the vast majority" of what had been reported was untrue and unfounded, adding: "Beyond that, I will not dignify these private matters with any further public comment."
The UK premiere of The Blind Side was scheduled to be held next week but has since been scrapped after Bullock pulled out for "unforeseen personal reasons".
A spokesman for the actress would not comment on Ms McGee's claims.
Ms Bullock and Mr James met in 2003 and married in 2005.
