Forgetting Sarah Marshall actress Kristen Bell is to star as Christina Aguilera's rival in the forthcoming dance drama Burlesque.
The 29-year-old, who can be seen next week in UK cinemas in romantic comedy Couples Retreat, has joined the cast of Steve Antin's Burlesque, set to begin shooting in November.
Aguilera, whose casting was announced last month, is to play a small-town girl with a powerful voice who finds romance and success in a neo-burlesque club in Los Angeles, while singer Cher is to star as the former dancer and nightclub owner who takes Aguilera's character under her wing.
Stanley Tucci, last seen in Julie & Julia, will play the man who helps Aguilera's character find her inner dancer while Bell will play the nemesis of the Genie in a Bottle star.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, former Veronica Mars actress Bell will play Nikki, the passionate lead dancer at the club who loses control when Aguilera's newcomer earns the spotlight.
Antin will begin production on Burlesquen on November 9th, with a Thanksgiving 2010 release date the target for production company Screen Gems.
