The Time Traveller's Wife, starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, has topped the UK box office on its opening weekend.
The film, based on the best-selling book by Audrey Niffenegger, took £1.4 million in just three days.
Another new release, children's film Aliens in the Attic, took an equally impressive £1.3 million to become the second-largest grossing film of the week.
Rom coms and family films dominate at the box office, with G-Force, a film about secret agent guinea pigs rising one place to number three.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince remained in the top five, with its total takings over the last five weeks now standing at £46.8 million.
Last week's number, The Ugly Truth, starring Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl, fell five places to number six.
