Former Libertines member Pete Doherty has received a fine for taking an amount of heroin to a court date.
The singer-songwriter rearrested for drug possession at Gloucester crown court before Christmas moments after avoiding jail for driving offences.
The 30-year-old had been handed a £2,050 fine and an 18-month driving ban having admitted to careless driving and drink-driving in the Westcountry city in June.
But after security guards saw wraps of heroin fall from his pocket, he was escorted to a nearby police station and arrested.
"Either this was sheer stupidity or a ploy to get more publicity," said district judge Joti Boparai while passing sentence at Gloucester magistrates' court on Wednesday.
Doherty was charged with possession of a Class A drug and fined £750 with £85 costs.
The court had heard the musician was not "mickey taking" and had forgotten the heroin was in his coat.
He will not be put on a rehabilitation order as the court ruled it would not be prudent to take funds from the "public purse" when Doherty is already paying for private drug treatment.
A number of Doherty's fans had attended the hearing and congratulated the F**k Forever star as he left the court.
