Former US vice-president Al Gore now has more than one million people following him on the social-messaging site Twitter.
The Nobel peace prize-winner reached the mark on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday night he messaged: "So close to 1,000,000 followers. Help put me over the top."
And upon reaching the figure the following morning he wrote: "Wow, 1,000,000 followers, thank you."
Mr Gore had been in a race of sorts to reach one million followers with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton who is only a few thousand sort of figure also.
The 61-year-old now joins the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Britney Spears and Demi Moore in reaching the impressive total.
He will have to go some way to beat Moore's husband, Ashton Kutcher, though who currently has over two million followers.
