English pair David Carter and Ross Fisher will head into the final round of the Dutch Open tomorrow leading the tournament alongside New Zealands Steve Alker on nine under par.
Fisher carded 68 and Carter hit a third round 71 to move two clear of David Higgins, Thomas Levet, Joost Luiten and Phillip Price.
Carter had a two stroke lead at the beginning of round three but had a difficult front nine, hitting 38 which included bogeys on holes seven and eight. The 35-year-old could have finished as the sole leader after birdies on the 16th and 17th, but a bogey on the last hole meant he had to settle for a tied leadership.
"It was a bit nerve-wracking for a period because the wind was in a totally different direction to the first three days," said Carter.
"The golf was not that pretty at times but that's also part of the fun. Tiger Woods makes it look so easy but this is what it's really like for us mere mortals, especially when you haven't won for a while.
"But I think I will take a lot of positives from today. Not many people on that leaderboard have won on the European Tour so hopefully I can use a little bit of the experience that I've had."
German legend Bernhard Langer, who turn 50 on Monday, is on five under par and still has a chance to claim his 43rd title tomorrow and become the European Tours oldest ever winner.
