England have stormed to an unassailable 2-0 series lead against Pakistan after beating the tourists by 167 runs in the third Test at Headingley.
Sajid Mahmood grabbed four wickets and Monty Panesar three as Pakistan, chasing a target of 323 at the start of the final day, capitulated to 155 all out shortly after lunch.
Andrew Strauss' side dominated from the off as Matthew Hoggard and Panesar claimed the cheap wickets of openers Salman Butt (16) and Taufeeq Umar (11) to heap the pressure firmly on Pakistan.
The key wicket of Mohammad Yousuf (8), who hit 192 in his first innings, was next to fall thanks to some rapid fielding from the impressive Paul Collingwood, who ran the dangerman out after Younis Khan had ill-advisedly pushed for a single.
Mahmood struck two more devastating blows just before lunch as he removed Faisal Iqbal (11) and Kamran Akmal (0) in successive deliveries to set the match firmly in England's favour with Pakistan flagging on 84-5.
And any hope the tourists had of a miraculous recovery after the break were soon extinguished as Khan, who had looked in good touch en route to 41 runs off 83 deliveries, was clean bowled by Panesar.
Mohammad Sami (0) failed to get off the mark as he was woefully run out before Mahmood grabbed two more quick-fire wickets with the removals of Shahid Nazir (17) and Umar Gul (0).
Inzamam-ul-Haq (37) and Danish Kaneria (0 not out) temporarily delayed the inevitable but it was aptly the Panesar and Chris Read combination which eventually outfoxed Pakistan's skipper and secured England's deserved series triumph.
