X Factor viewers today consigned Jamie Archer to the reality TV show exit after voting him off the ITV1 show.
The singer with the immense afro had finished in the bottom two in the public vote alongside Lloyd Daniels.
But when the pair received two votes each from the judges it was revealed that Jamie, who sang The Show Must Go On by Queen in the sing-off, had received fewer public votes.
Simon Cowell, Jamie's mentor, admitted he might have "let him down" with song choice this week.
"He's a great guy with a future ahead of him," Cowell added.
Lloyd, who had sung Last Request by Paolo Nutini in the sing-off, received votes from mentor Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh to stay in the competition.
The result means that polarising twins John and Edward Grimes - Jedward - survive for another week on what is billed as a singing competition.
