A late drop goal from Phil Godman gave Edinburgh an 11-10 win over Cardiff Blues at Cardiff Arms Park in the Magners League.

In treacherous conditions, the visitors took the lead when winger Andrew Turnbull crashed over in the corner.

Edinburgh then had two men in the sin bin, which the Blues punished through Xavier Rush's try to lead 7-5 at the break.

In a tight second half, Ben Blair's penalty was cancelled out by Godman. Fly-half Godman then snatched victory for the Scottish side with a drop goal.

The result sees Edinburgh climb to third place while the Blues remain in second spot.

Elsewhere, the Newport Gwent-Dragons beat Glasgow 18-16 at Hughenden.

The Welsh side crossed the line twice through Joe Bearman and Peter Sidoli, while Sweeney slotted over a conversion and two penalties.

Glasgow, who trailed 6-20 at the break, scored a try through Sam Pinder while fly-half Dan Parks continued his impressive form with a conversion and three penalties.

The win for the Dragons moves them into sixth place while the Warriors slip into seventh position.

Elsewhere, Connacht defeated Llanelli Scarlets 20-18 at the Galway Sportsground.

The Irish side, who led 14-6 at the break, were led to victory by a try from Conor O'Loughlin and five penalties from Andy Dunne. Rees Priestlend booted over six penalties for the Scarlets.

Connacht's third win of the season keeps them in ninth spot while the Scarlets slip into fourth place.
