Singer-songwriter Pete Doherty has been rearrested for drug possession at Gloucester crown court moments after avoiding jail for driving offences.
The former Libertine had been ordered to pay £2,050 in fines and banned from driving for 18 months having admitted to careless driving and drink-driving in the Westcountry city in June.
But the Babyshambles frontman was then escorted by officers to a nearby police station and arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug.
"A 30-year-old Wiltshire man has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance," said a Gloucestershire constabulary spokeswoman. "He is currently assisting police with their inquiries."
The 30-year-old's arrest came after he admitted to careless driving following a concert at Gloucester's Guildhall venue.
Doherty also admitted to drink-driving on the night of June 11th, having given a breathalyser reading of 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
He had been disqualified from driving in 2007 and had not renewed his licence, the court heard on Monday.
