Billy Doctrove, one of the umpires officiating the abandoned Oval Test, will not be on duty at the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
Doctrove's colleague during the controversial England-Pakistan match, Darrell Hair, was removed from the list of tournament officials last week due to "security concerns".
The International Cricket Council (ICC) deny that the move comes in connection with the pair's decision to award a first ever Test match to a side via forfeit when Pakistan failed to come out of their dressing room after tea.
Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and his team were incensed by Hair's decision to dock Pakistan five runs for ball-tampering.
"There is nothing sinister at all. The fact of the matter was we were only able to include eight of the ten elite umpires," insisted an ICC spokesman.
"Darrell Hair will obviously not be there and it's simply a case that nine into eight doesn't go and Billy was the unlucky one.
"Billy is a member of the elite panel for a reason, he is one of the best umpires in the world and there is nothing to suggest he won't be umpiring again soon after the Champions Trophy."
In an investigation into the Oval debacle senior match referee Ranjan Madugalle found the Pakistan team innocent of ball-tampering and criticised both Hair and Doctrove for deeming the match to have been forfeited.
