Writer and presenter Stephen Fry and BBC1's Doctor Who each scooped two prizes at last night's National TV Awards (NTAs) ceremony in London.
Doctor Who took the best drama NTA for the fifth consecutive year, with David Tennant - who performed as the Doctor for the final time on New Year's Day - winning the outstanding drama performance prize.
ITV hosts Ant and Dec were handed the best entertainment presenter award for the ninth year in a row while their Saturday Night Takeaway programme beat their other show I'm A Celebrity. Get Me Out Of Here! in the best entertainment programme category.
Fry was the other double winner on the night, claiming the best travel documentary award for Stephen Fry in America as well as winning a special recognition award.
"I really am completely staggered by this, I had no idea this was going to happen," said the former Blackadder actor after winning the latter prize.
"I have the highest possible belief in television at its best. I think of it as the nation's fireplace, about which we can gather together and be lit by its light and warmed by its heat.
"It can make us feel better about each other. And it can make us feel better about ourselves."
Other winners included Coronation Street - winning the best serial drama prize for the first time since 2004 - and BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey.
Meanwhile, X Factor judge Simon Cowell confirmed after collecting the best talent show award that he is organising a charity single to raise money for victims of the Haitian earthquake.
"We made a decision today. We had a request from the prime minister and the Sun newspaper - would we put a record together?" he said.
"We haven't got an awful lot of time, but we are going to do something and attempt to raise as much money as possible."
The awards ceremony included performances from X Factor winner Joe McElderry and infamous twins John and Edward Grimes, who were joined onstage by US rapper Vanilla Ice.
