Anastasia Dobromyslova beat Vincent Van Der Voort in a last leg decider to register her first televised win.
The former women's world champion from Russia was 3-1 and 4-3 down respectively before taking out 100 for a famous 5-4 win.
Dobromyslova said: "I am on top of the world, but I need to concentrate on Tuesday's match with Mark Webster now."
Van Der Voort took a 3-1 lead after his Russian opponent had missed darts to at least make it all square.
However, Dobromyslova came roaring back after break hitting 2 180's and a scintillating 121 checkout to make it 3-3.
Van Der Voort took the seventh leg, but a barrage of 140's and a nerveless 100 finish gave Dobromyslova the win that keeps her in the tournament.
Phil Taylor booked his place in the last 16 with a 5-0 whitewash of Wales' Mark Webster.
Taylor began with a 13 darter, but it appeared Webster would level, but he missed four darts at a double, and Taylor took the leg.
Webster missed five more darts in the next two legs, and Taylor won the match with an 11 dart leg.
Francis Hoenselaar nearly made it a double victory for the ladies, after coming close to beating John Part, eventually falling to a 5-3 defeat.
The current women's world champion took out 113 in the opening leg and then took the second, to the joy of the crowd.
However, Part used his experience to pull level at 3-3, and he saw out the match with an 80 finish, leaving him requiring to beat Raymond Van Barneveld if he is to stand a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages.
Raymond van Barneveld came from 4-2 down to see off Kevin Painter 5-4.
Painter maintained a two leg lead for the majority of the match, before the Dutchman reeled off three legs for the win, finishing off with a 96 checkout for a 15 dart leg.
BDO player Tony O'Shea took charge of Group B with a 5-2 over Colin Osborne.
However, he will have to beat Colin Lloyd to ensure his place in the knockout stages, after Lloyd hit a 101 average in beat Brian Woods 5-0.
'Jaws' whitewash win, means that he can eliminate O'Shea if he beats him by a large margin on Tuesday, and Osborne beats Woods.
Mervyn King qualified from Group C, after coming from 3-1 down to beat Steve Maish 5-4.
Maish hit checkouts of 86, 161 and 100 to take a lead into the break, before King upped his game to take the deciding leg.
Maish will now play Kirk Shepherd to decide the second qualifier, after Shepherd beat Darryl Fitton 5-3.
The 23 year-old stormed to a 3-0 lead, before Fitton hit two double 20's to reduce the deficit to one.
Both players held throw to make the game 4-3, before Shepherd hot double eight to remain in the competition.
