Championship side West Brom have chosen Roberto Di Matteo to replace Tony Mowbray as their new manager.
The Baggies were relegated from the Premier League last season and then saw their manager Mowbray move to Scottish giants Celtic.
A number of names were linked with the vacant job, but West Brom have decided to go with one of the most exciting young managers in the country in Di Matteo, who has signed a 12-month rolling contract.
Di Matteo, who had been in charge at the MK Dons since July 2008, will bring Eddie Newton as assistant coach and Ade Mafe as fitness coach.
"I am delighted with Roberto's appointment, which concludes an intensive selection process during which over 40 names were considered," chairman Jeremy Pearce told the official West Brom website.
"We shortlisted two outstanding candidates, spoke to both of them after receiving permission from their clubs, and ultimately Roberto was the unanimous choice of the board."
The 39-year-old Di Matteo has only been in management for close to a year, but has already made a name for himself. The former Chelsea midfielder guided the Dons into the League One play-offs, but lost out to Scunthorpe in the semi-finals.
Di Matteo also had a distinguished career as a player and was a favourite at Stamford Bridge, where he spent six seasons and won two FA Cups, a Cup Winners Cup and a Super Cup.
