Dimitar Berbatov scored his first goals for Manchester United following his £30 million move from Tottenham as his new side eased to victory over Danish side AaB Aalborg.
Wayne Rooney also found the net as United ran out 3-0 winners in Denmark.
The only blot on an otherwise satisfactory evening for Sir Alex Ferguson was a first-half injury to Paul Scholes which saw him leave the field on a stretcher with a suspected knee ligament injury.
Ryan Giggs was his replacement and the Welshman brilliantly teed up Rooney to open the scoring after 22 minutes.
Berbatov opened his account for United ten minutes into the second half. The Bulgarian had missed a great chance earlier on but made no mistake after some terrible defending from the Danes.
The Bulgarian got his second with ten minutes to go when he cracked home a clinical volley from Cristiano Ronaldo's cut-back.
Rooney later departed also through injury but it is not thought to be as serious.
With four points from two games, Group E now looks like being a two-horse race between United and Villareal.
