The Ministry of Defence has announced that Prince William's Chinook flight to the Isle of Wight to attend his cousin's stag-do cost the taxpayers £8,716.
The use of the military helicopter by the prince to attend a wedding in Hexham, fly over relatives' homes and land in his girlfriend's garden led to considerable criticism.
It has now been confirmed that the Prince's five flights cost more than £50,000 after the Guardian newspaper lodged a freedom of information request.
The RAF has admitted that the flights were a "naïve" public relations disaster and a "collective error of judgement".
Prince William spent four months on an attachment with the RAF and was awarded his wings by his father Prince Charles at a ceremony at RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire in April.
