Day five of the US Open turned into the day of the comeback for two of the players in the men's draw.
Juan Carlos Ferrero had to use all his many years' of experience to come from two sets behind against German Philipp Petzschner.
The man nicknamed 'the Mosquito' looked badly stung after losing the opening two sets 1-6, 3-6. But he bit back to take the next three sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 and justify his number 24 seeding.
Marin Cilic, a possible last 16 opponent for Andy Murray, also reached the third round the hard way; finally overcoming Jesse Levine 4-6 2-6 6-0 6-3 6-0.
Another player in Andy Murray's half of the draw is Juan Martin del Potro. The Argentine has the game to trouble any player in the world on hard courts and this was in evidence during his 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-4 victory over Jurgen Melzer.
France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is still modelling the longer hairstyle and headband he unveiled during the start of the tournament.
While this makes him look less like Muhammad Ali than he used to, he still hasn't lost his knock-out touch, showing impressive power and movement to out-muscle Jarkko Nieminen 7-5 6-3 6-4.
