Former England skipper Lawrence Dallagio has laid the blame for England's miserable autumn firmly at the door of the head coach Andy Robinson and the rest of the world champions' management staff.
After rumours that the Wasps number eight could be recalled to captain his country in the final test against South Africa last weekend proved wide of the mark, he has quickly added to the growing chorus of voices demanding fresh direction for the team.
"What we need to do is make sure our players are prepared in the best possible way to play international rugby and certainly in the autumn that doesn't appear to be the case," the 34-year-old told Sky Sports.
"The quality he [a new England head coach] is going to require is to pick the right players in the right positions and get the team winning. I think we have got some great players in this country and we have got a lot of enthusiasm."
The long-running saga of Robinson's possible departure continues to drag on with discussions between the RFU and the former Bath flanker still ongoing.
Speculation has already moved onto possible contenders for the role once a resignation package has been agreed with Robinson, with Warren Gatland, Dean Richards, Nick Mallett and Martin Johnson all linked to the job.
