A woman who tried to hire a hitman to kill her husband has been jailed for seven years today.
Zoe Kenealy, 44, is reported to have taken out a £4,500 bank loan to pay someone to kill her husband so she could collect a £33,000 life insurance pay out.
The mother-of-six was found guilty of soliciting murder in April.
At the Old Bailey today the judge sentenced her to seven years in prison for a "cynical and cruel attempt to have your husband killed".
Prosecutors claim Kenealy gave her neighbour Lee Waite, 31, £3,000 to hire someone to kill her husband but instead he kept the money.
Her husband, Tim Kenealy, 51, told the Sunday Mirror, before sentencing this week, that he stood by his wife.
"When Zoe was arrested I was heartbroken, but I never stopped loving her," he said.
Mr Kenealy also claimed he "never hated" his wife for plotting to kill him.
