The mother of teenager Anthony Walker, who was killed with an ice axe last year, has said she would like to meet his murderers.
Gee Walker's 18-year-old son was struck after being targeted by racists in Huyton, Merseyside, in July.
Two cousins Michael Barton, 17, and Paul Taylor, 20, were found guilty of his murder and jailed for life in December.
Mrs Walker has already said she forgives Anthony's killers. She told the BBC that she would like to meet them to find out why they did it.
"I can't just go and put a plaster or Sellotape over. I've got to know the root cause," she said.
"So by meeting them, hopefully, if they'll meet me, I'm willing, I'll find out where did this come from."
Anthony was waiting at a bus stop near the Huyton Park pub with his cousin Marcus Binns and his girlfriend Louise Thompson, when Barton shouted abuse at him.
They walked to another bus stop near McGoldrick Park but were followed by Barton and Taylor. Anthony was unable to escape, and was killed after an ice axe was embedded into his skull.
Anthony's family is setting up a charity called the Anthony Walker Foundation to fight racism.
