A 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a family of four in Stockport.
The woman from Burnage, Manchester, was arrested this morning and the man, who is from the same area, was arrested this afternoon. They are currently being held in custody on suspicion of murder.
Both suspects are being questioned over the deaths of Uzma Rahan, 32, her two sons Adam, 11, Abbas, eight, and daughter Henna, six, whose bodies were found at a property in Turves Road, Cheadle Hulme, at the weekend.
Police have been hunting 36-year-old Rahan Arshad, the father of the children and husband of Ms Rahan, and are still appealing for anyone with any information about his whereabouts to come forward.
His five-door silver BMW 320 Diesel M Sport was recovered at London Heathrow airport yesterday and police believe it may have been parked there for several weeks.
"We are still actively looking for Rahan Arshad and I now believe that he left the country around July 29th," Detective Superintendent Martin Bottomley of Greater Manchester police said.
"We will be liaising with our colleagues in international police forces to help us to trace him. I would ask that anyone who has seen him or been in contact with him since July 29th contact the incident room or any police officer immediately."
Postmortem examinations have now been completed on all four victims, revealing that they all died as a result of "serious head injuries".
Police attended the "devastating scene" at the property on Sunday after neighbours contacted them expressing concern about the family.
It is believed the bodies may have been at the house, in heatwave conditions, for as long as a month before being discovered.
