Police have charged a teenage boy with the murder of 14-year-old David Idowu in London.
David, of Southwark, south London, died of multiple stab wounds at the Royal London hospital three weeks after being attacked on Great Dover Street and Becket Street during the evening rush hour on June 17th.
A 16-year-old boy was remanded in custody after appearing at Camberwell Green youth court accused of attempted murder on June 23rd and is due to appear again on Wednesday.
Earlier, Detective Inspector Graeme Gwyn of the homicide and serious crime command said: "David's family have been devastated by his death and it is imperative that we achieve justice for them.
"David fought bravely for three weeks to overcome his injuries. I would ask those who have yet to tell us what they saw or know, to show bravery themselves and step forward to help us take a killer off the streets."
The incident comes amid an increased number of violent murders in the capital. Twenty teenagers have died as a result of knife or gun crime in London in 2008, a rising tally likely to exceed the 27 murders seen throughout 2007.
The government published its cross-departmental strategy tackling knife crime today.
