Police have named the 15-year-old girl stabbed to death near London's Waterloo station yesterday.
Arsema Dawit was discovered in a lift at Matheson Lang House on Baylis Road, south London, at 15:46 BST yesterday suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Metropolitan police confirmed they are continuing to question a man arrested over the fatal stabbing.
The man in his 30s, who reportedly claims to be the girl's boyfriend, was arrested in Lambeth in connection with her death.
Sky News reports the girl was wearing her school uniform and suffered at least ten stab wounds in her front, neck and back.
A Metropolitan police spokeswoman confirmed yesterday the 15-year-old's next of kin had been informed and that a post-mortem was expected to take place on Tuesday.
She is the 16th teenager to be killed violently in London so far this year.
Cathy Loxton, the principal of Arsema's school, the Harris Academy in Bermondsey lead the tributes to the schoolgirl today.
"We are all shocked by the loss of one of our students and the tragic ending of a life that showed so much promise," she said.
"Arsema was a popular, friendly and well-behaved girl who had much to contribute to our school community.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Arsema's family and friends."
Police also confirmed today that the teenager had complained about an attack in the past.
Neighbours and friends told reporters that Arsema was being "harassed" by a man and the police had been contacted.
The allegation was confirmed by officers who said they received an "allegation of assault" from Arsema's family in April.
The BBC claims officers also confirmed that the teenager knew the man held over her killing.
