The mother of Shannon Matthews has spoken for the first time since her daughter was found after going missing for 24 days.
Karen Matthews said "Of course I want her back with us as soon as that's possible but I understand that could take some time."
After Shannon was found on Friday lunchtime, Ms Matthews has only seen her daughter once, briefly on Friday evening.
The nine-year old has been with specially-trained officers as the police try to piece together what happened after the schoolgirl disappeared following a swimming lesson.
"The most important thing is that Shannon is safe. I have seen Shannon and I am completely happy that she is being very well looked after and is being given all the care she needs," Ms Matthews said in a statement.
"The police have been brilliant and I'm really grateful for all they have done for us."
"When we do get Shannon back home with us we will plan a bit of party to welcome her home and we will be involving all the community in that to thank them for all their support."
Shannon was discovered in the base of a divan bed at the home of Michael Donovan, formerly known as Paul Drake, who is her stepfather's uncle.
Police have been granted more time to question Mr Donovan over the alleged abduction of Shannon.
