Police have arrested a second person in connection with the murder of two French students in south London last weekend.
A 33-year-old man handed himself in to police at a London police station early this morning, a statement said. He was arrested and remains in custody facing questioning, the Metropolitan police said.
It is the second arrest in the investigation into the deaths of Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez, both 23, whose bodies were discovered in a house fire in Sterling Gardens, New Cross, late on June 26th.
Post-mortems revealed both students had died of multiple stab wounds to the head, neck and torso.
They were discovered in Mr Bonomo's ground-floor flat after an explosion and fire in the early hours. Police believe they were tied up during the assault and that the fire was deliberately started, because of the use of an "accelerant".
Yesterday an e-fit of a man seen running away from the scene at around 22:00 BST on Sunday 29th was released, with police continuing to appeal for witnesses.
The first man arrested in connection with the case, a 21-year-old man, was held on Saturday but released without further action.
