Police are continuing their search for the mother of a 12-year-old autistic boy who was found dead in the River Humber yesterday.
Ryan Davies' body was recovered from the water at Swinefleet Haven, near Goole, East Yorkshire, after coastguards were alerted by a pleasure boat.
The boy's mother, Alison Davies, is still missing, having not been seen since April 11th when she and her son vanished from her mother's home in Marple, near Stockport, Greater Manchester.
Ms Davies suffers from depression and police are considering the possibility that she and her son jumped to their deaths from a bridge.
She is described as white, 5ft 4in tall and of a slim build with shoulder-length brown hair.
A Humberside police spokeswoman confirmed that "one of the current lines of inquiry being pursued" is that Ms Davies travelled to Hull "with the intention of doing herself harm and may have left the side of the Humber bridge with her son".
She added that grainy CCTV images have been recovered showing an "incident" which detectives are currently investigating.
Police today formally identified the body pulled out of the river as Ryan and his aunt, who is his mother's sister, Lindsay Cook paid tribute to her nephew.
"He was a cheerful, outgoing, friendly boy who loved football and riding his bike. He enjoyed company and was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed," she said.
"We would also like to highlight the ongoing plight of families coping with mental disability issues in order to spare other families from experiencing this pain."
She added: "God bless you Ryan, we love you and miss you terribly."
