Chelsea launch 'big offer' for Milan playmaker Kaka

Kaka is valued at around £70 million by AC Milan
Chelsea have made a bid for AC Milan star Kaka, the Italian giants have claimed.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with a big-money move to the Blues after fellow Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari took charge at Stamford Bridge.

Milan, who have not qualified for next season's Champions League, insist the 25-year-old is not for sale.

Adriano Galliani, the club's vice president, claims the Blues have made a formal approach for Kaka while there has also been interest in fellow midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

"For Kaka, a really big offer has arrived from Chelsea," Galliani told La Stampa.

"For Pirlo, there have been many requests. As for him, neither Pirlo nor his agent have come in to my office asking for an improvement in his salary.

"We do not have a transfer kitty stashed away here. Despite failing to qualify for the Champions League, the club is strengthening the squad and increasing the wages.

"The fans should be happy, as all we'd need to do in order to wipe out our debts is sell Kaka and Andrea Pirlo. Instead they won't move, so if that's not a show of love for this club, I don't know what is."

Kaka would add to an already crowded midfield at Stamford Bridge with Scolari's options including Claude Makelele, Michael Essien, Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard, and new signing Deco.

In February, Kaka signed a two-year contract extension at the Rossoneri which will keep him at the San Siro until 2013.End of story
