Police have released e-Fit of murders suspect
Police have released an e-fit image of a possible suspect for the murders of French students Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez.
The 23-year-old students were killed at a flat in Sterling Gardens, New Cross, last Sunday.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on Saturday but has been released with no further action.
Officers said several people have described a man they saw running away from Sterling Gardens just after 22:00 BST on the night of their deaths when they heard an explosion.
They have described him as white, between 30 and 40 years old, of slight/slim build and wearing a light coloured baseball cap and a dark top, blue jeans and white trainers.
DCI Mick Duthie said: "I also want to reiterate an appeal for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious throughout that day, last Sunday, June 29th.
"Just to repeat what we know: Laurent spoke to his fiancee around 01:00 BST on the Sunday morning. After that, no-one heard from Laurent or Gabriel or saw them.
"It is important to stress that the attack could have taken place at any time during Sunday.
"We believe that anyone involved in this scene would have been bloodstained when they left the area."
Police said forensic examination of the property continues and is likely to continue for some considerable time.
Laurent and Gabriel were hardworking young men who were making the most of the opportunity to research their chosen area of science in a world class facility, police added.
They enjoyed playing tennis, computer games and liked watching sport.
Recently, Laurent told his mother he had bought two hand-held Playstations, Sony PSPs, which police believe were stolen.
