Metropolitan police officers have begun a murder investigation after a man was killed in Mitcham, south London, on Monday.
A statement for New Scotland Yard said that officers were called at around 19:15 BST last night after reports of a disturbance at an address in London Road, Mitcham.
Police and ambulance services attended the scene and discovered a 56-year-old man suffering from serious injuries.
The victim later died at the scene.
Metropolitan police said that officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command were now investigating the death.
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder and both remain in custody at a south London police station.
A man in his 40s was arrested by officers after being tracked by CCTV footage and a woman, also in her 40s, was arrested at the scene in Mitcham.
The deceased's next of kin have been informed although a formal identification is yet to take place, with a post mortem scheduled for 16:00 BST today.
