A man has been shot dead by police at a vehicle checkpoint in Northern Ireland.
Officers fired a number of rounds at a car in Church Street in Ballynahinch, County Down at about 11:00 BST today.
Police have confirmed that the dead man was driving the vehicle. Three men and two women, who were also in the car, have been arrested.
It is understood that the shooting took place near the East Down Institute Technical College.
Northern Ireland would not reveal any information about the events that led to the shooting of the man by police.
Initial reports suggest that officers were investigating reports that a stolen car had been seen in the area.
The office of Northern Ireland's police ombudsman, Naula O'Loan, has launched a full investigation after being informed about the incident.
