Man remanded in custody over teen bakery stabbing

19-year-old man due to appear in court charged with murdering teenager at bakery in south-east London
A 19-year-old man charged with murdering a teenager at a bakery in south-east London has been remanded in custody.

Jimmy Mizen, who turned 16 the day before he was killed, died last weekend after sustaining a fatal stab wound to his neck from a shard of glass.

He had stopped into the Three Cooks bakery on Burnt Ash Hill in Lee after buying his first lottery ticket with his brother.

Jimmy had been due to sit his GCSEs and begin an apprenticeship with the housing department at Southwark Council.

Jake Fahri, of Milborough Crescent, Lee, appeared at Sutton magistrates court today charged with Jimmy's murder.

The 19-year-old only spoke to confirm his name, age and address and will next appear at the Old Bailey on August 21st.

Jimmy's parents Barry, 56, and Margaret, 55, have paid tribute to their "saint" of a son, who they described as a "gentle giant".

"He was 16 years and a day old and I never once told him off. He didn't have bad thoughts about people," said Mrs Mizen.End of story
