Police have arrested a man on the suspicion of stabbing his children in Huddersfield.
Yesterday, a four-year-old boy, Ryan Hawkins, and his 14-year-old sister Donna were found in Royd Street with serious injuries. Ryan later died of his wounds.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire police said the father of the two stabbing victims, Chris Hawkins, and another man were being quizzed on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Donna Hawkins has undergone surgery at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and is in a serious but stable condition. A post-mortem is being conducted on the body of the four-year-old boy.
Yesterday, the police announced that they were treating the death of the boy as murder.
Detective Superintendent Tim Forber said: "This has been a very serious incident which has seen the life of a four-year-old boy having been brought to a tragic end and left a 14-year-old girl in hospital with serious stab wounds.
"Family liaison officers are currently with the family supporting them at this tragic time," the officer added.
