Japanese police have charged the man suspected of killing British teacher Lindsay Ann Hawker with rape and her murder, reports claims.
Ms Hawker, 22, went missing in March 2007 while working as an English teacher in Ichikawa, east of Tokyo.
Her body was eventually found in a bathtub full of sand at the flat of Tatsuya Ichihashi, who she had been given lessons to at a nearby coffee shop.
Sky News reports today the 30-year-old has now been charged with rape and her murder, after earlier being indicted on the charge of abandoning her body.
Mr Ichihashi was arrested last month after reportedly spending 13 months working on a construction site in Osaka.
Police earlier released images of the suspect, alleging he had undergone cosmetic surgery several times to hide his identity.
