Man arrested following Cornwall beach death

A man in his 20s was found dead on Par Beach in Cornwall

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead on a beach in Cornwall late on Saturday night.

An as-yet unidentified man, who is thought to be in his 20s, was spotted lying on Par Beach on the southern Cornish coast, near St Austell, at around 21:30 BST yesterday.

He was taken to the Royal Cornwall hospital suffering from serious head trauma. He later died.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall police refused to speculate on a cause of death, particularly as the man's family are yet to be informed of the incident.

But the force added that a post-mortem would be taking place "at some point in the future".
