A 25-year-old man has admitted to the murder of Bradford PC Sharon Beshenivsky at court.
Mussaker Imtiaz Shah, 25, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty on October 4th at Newcastle crown court, but reporting restrictions meant that his plea could not be made public.
But today, responding to requests from media organisations, the judge hearing the case, Mr Justice Smith, lifted those restrictions.
Shah has admitted the fatal shooting of the 38-year-old officer outside a Bradford travel agents on November 18th last year.
He also admitted a number of other firearms offences, but denied the attempted murder of PC Teresa Milburn, who was injured after being shot in the same incident.
Raza Haq Aslam, 25, of Kentish Town, north London; Faisal Razzaq, 25, and his 26-year-old brother Hassan, both of Forest Gate, east London; and Yusuf Abdillh Jamma, 20, of Small Heath, Birmingham; are also appearing in court. They all deny murder.
Mr Justice Smith earlier suggested the case could go on for between six and eight weeks and a jury of seven women and five men was sworn in on Monday.
The trial is set to begin tomorrow.
Ms Beshenivsky died from gunshot wounds after she and her colleague responded to a call about an alleged armed robbery at the Universal Express travel agents in Bradford city centre.
