A man injured in a car crash involving former boxing champion Naseem Hamed has been charged with dangerous driving himself.
Anthony Burgin's lawyer revealed that her client had been accused of involvement in a driving incident with Hamed's wife.
Irvin Mitchell partner Jane Wright said Mr Burgin was "both surprised and upset by this allegation".
"Following an alleged incident between our client Mr Anthony Burgin and Mrs Eleasha Hamed, wife of former boxer Naseem Hamed, on April 19th 2007, our client has been charged with dangerous driving," Ms Mitchell added.
"At this time, our client does not know upon what basis this charge has been brought.
"Mr Burgin wishes to make no further comment other than to thank his family who have supported him during his rehabilitation following the serious injuries he received as a result of a road accident involving Mr Hamed."
Hamed served 16 weeks of a 15-month sentence after being convicted of dangerous driving when his £320,000 Mercedes, driving on the wrong side of the road, was involved in a head-on collision with Mr Burgin two years ago.
Mr Burgin suffered fractures to every major bone in his body following the collision.
