Scotland Yard have made a fresh appeal for information in the hunt for a prolific burglar and serial rapist, who has targeted elderly people in south-east London since 1990.
A total of 98 cases have now been linked and although detectives warn he mainly targets elderly women, ten cases of assault on male victims have been reported.
Operation Minstead is the largest hunt for a serial rapist ever conducted by the Metropolitan police and was established in 1998 after a forensic link between an attack at the time and another attack in 1992.
The head of the investigation, Detective Superintendent Simon Morgan said: "This man has committed terrible offences on extremely vulnerable men and women leaving them shocked, frightened and in some cases seriously hurt.
"We want to appeal for information that may assist in tracing this individual and stop his offending. To date, we know that the offender has periods of non-offending that may suggest that he is not always in the UK."
The man has been described by his victims as black, in his late 30s and between 5ft 10ins and 6ft 2ins tall. He has a well-spoken soft voice and is believed to ride a motorcycle as victims have described him wearing motorcycle style outfits.
In a direct appeal to the rapist, Det Supt Morgan said: "Your crimes have caused such pain and misery to so many people that it has to stop. You know who you are. You know you need help. You know you have to stop."
