The fiancee of one of the failed July 21st suicide bombers has been jailed for helping him evade police dressed in a burka.
Fardosa Abdullahi was given a three-year sentence by an Old Bailey judge today, a month after pleading guilty to assisting an offender.
The 20-year-old got engaged to Yassin Omar four days before he and three other Islamic extremists tried to detonate explosives in their rucksacks on London's transport system on July 21st 2005.
The suicide attacks all failed, but Omar the would-be Warren Street bomber initially escaped arrest after dressing in a Muslim woman's burka given to him by Abdullahi.
CCTV footage taken at Golders Green coach station showed Omar dressed in the black robe carrying a white handbag.
He fled to Birmingham but was arrested five days later. He has since been jailed for 40 years for his role in the failed attacks.
In his sentencing today Judge Paul Worsley rejected claims Abdullahi, who is now pregnant, should have been spared jail because of her history of mental illness.
"The message must go out that this court will not go soft on those who assist terrorists even those who are young, vulnerable and under pressure, as you undoubtedly were," he said.
Today's verdict marks the end of a series of court cases that have seen 16 people convicted or admitted charges over the July 21 attacks.
