Facebook and other social networking sites may hold the key to the murder of a 59-year-old woman from Bodmin, whose house caught ablaze because of a firework.
Mary Fox was killed on Thursday after a firework was posted through her letterbox - causing the building where she lived with her 17-year-old son Raum to catch fire.
Devon and Cornwall police, investigating the incident, said they would be using social networking sites such as Facebook, Bebo and Myspace to identify the culprits.
Inspector Matt Longman said names of possible suspects were being "bandied about" on websites and this could be used to "progress inquiries".
"Anything that comes to light we will follow up but we cannot say there is anything specific on them that will take the investigation forward at this time," he added.
Ms Fox's son is still in hospital, being treated for smoke inhalation.
