The family of Jean Charles de Menezes, the Brazilian electrician shot dead by police at Stockwell London Underground station, have agreed a compensation deal with the Metropolitan police.
A joint statement from the police and the family said all litigation between both parties arising from the shooting had been resolved.
The statement reads: "The members of the family are pleased that a compensation package has been agreed which enables them to put these events behind them and move forward with their lives.
"In view of the physical and mental distress caused to the members of the family by these events and the understandable publicity and press interest, it has been agreed that it is in the best interests of the family that no further statement in relation to this settlement will be made either by them or the commissioner."
Reports earlier this morning said the family could receive only £100,000, a third of the original fee they had requested.
A spokesman for the Met was unable to confirm the actual size of the agreed deal.
Sir Paul Stephenson today made an "unreserved apology to the family for the tragic death of Jean Charles de Menezes and to reiterate that he was a totally innocent victim and in no way to blame for his untimely death".
Mr De Menezes was shot dead after being mistaken for failed suicide bomber Hussain Osman, just days after the July 7th attacks on London.
