With annual inflation running at more than 26 per cent, Iran's president has called on economic experts to help reform the economy.
The his latest round of meetings with economists and industry leaders over the weekend, president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sought advice on how to lower inflation, create jobs and ease the growing hardship on the country's lower income bracket.
The president has been the target of widespread criticism for what have been described as seriously flawed fiscal policies.
Mr Ahmadinejad sacked his economy and finance minister, Davoud Danesh Jaafari, in April over what local media claimed was the minister's failure to follow the government line.
In related news, the state owned oil companies PetroPars and PetroIran are to be sold off by public tender.
