A British tourist in Goa has told the BBC he saw Scarlett Keeling on the beach with a man on top of her on the night she died.

Michael Mannion, 35, told the broadcaster he saw Samson D'Souza, one of the two men arrested by police with Scarlett on the beach where she was found dead.

Mr Mannion said: "In the light of the front beam of his scooter, I saw Samson D'Souza on top of Scarlett."

He had seen and spoken to the 15-year-old in a bar earlier in the evening when she had appeared intoxicated.

"Before she left the bar she said she had taken drugs, but she didn't say where they'd come from," he told a BBC reporter in Goa.

Mr Mannion said she left around 5am (23:30 GMT), and he left five minutes later, which is when he saw Scarlett on the beach.

"I was in a complete state of total panic, shock. I got on my bike and I rode off," he said.

Samson D'Souza told Goa police he had consensual sex with Scarlett.

Mr Mannion claims he has not come forward until now because he was afraid of the local police, but now the media spotlight is on the case he feels safer.
