Britain's most senior Asian police officer has accused the Metropolitan police force of racial discrimination.
Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur is said to be currently preparing a legal case against the Met over allegations which include being silenced over his concerns involving the 42-day detention limit.
The Black Police Association confirmed today that Mr Ghaffur was taking legal advice on his case.
Meanwhile, a Metropolitan police force spokesman said that there was currently no official statement on the claims.
BBC London has reported there are four main issues which have caused Mr Ghaffur to take action.
These include, a failure by the Met to renew his five year contract, being sidelined by Met chief Sir Ian Blair when it came to decisions on security at the London 2012 Olympics, being made to keep quiet about his concerns over the 42-day detention limit and a basic breakdown of relationships with Sir Ian.
Two years ago, Mr Ghaffur warned that Muslims were being discriminated against as the result of new anti-terrorism legislation.
