A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Jimmy Mizen, who was killed in a south-east London bakery last weekend.
The Metropolitan police said the teenager was being held at a London police station but refused to go into further detail.
Jimmy, 16, died from a fatal neck injury after he was assaulted at the Three Cooks bakery in Lee on Saturday.
Police claim the 6ft 4in schoolboy, who has been described as a "gentle giant" by his family, had been attacked after trying to avoid a fight.
Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons said: "Not content with matters ending there, the youth then proceeded to smash down the door of the bakery, shattering the glass.
"He also picked up an advertising board and took it inside the bakery and wielded it around. A fight ensued and Jimmy received a fatal blow to his neck, cutting his throat with some glass."
